IN TENSION
Seldom do we use urethane elastomers in tension and then only to a small fraction of their ultimate strength. Tensile stress strain curves for several compounds are shown merely as information in the following graphs:
IN TORSION
Only a small percent of urethane applications are being used in torsion. There are a few outstanding examples however, and we would be pleased to work with you on this.

Urethane vs. rubber in tension.

A hydraulic urethane diaphragm used in metal forming.

Urethane vs. rubber in compression. More than 90% of our applications for urethanes use the extraordinary stress-strain relationship of urethanes in compression.

Urethane torsion spring maintains constant pressure on a belt wiper but allows intermittent "hop-over" of belt splices.
